DC After The Snowstorm

Washington, DC--It finally stop snowing in the city. After some 30 inches of snow the District was blanketed in white all over. Some people were without power, branches fell off trees, cars were stranded and most businesses were closed. I walked around my neighborhood this afternoon and this is one of the images I gather after the snowstorm.

We are wishing you renewed warmth and an end to the extreme weather. This poor uprooted tree! I hope the citizens of DC will find relief very soon! This was our winter last year. This winter, not a flake of snow! It is an El Nino year (please imagine a tilde over that n), so lots of rain and mild temperatures. Our poor neighbors 2 1/2 hours north of Seattle in Vancouver, BC, Canada are hosting the Winter Olympics. . .in a year with little snow. If only DC and the Mid Atlantic Seaboard could export it to them! :-). Keep warm!

It's amazing how heavy snow is, even though it appears to be a lovely fluffy blanket. Wow!

Looks like a good weekend to get around on foot when you do go out ... otherwise stay in and read a book or three.

That is a big tree that went down! I'm impressed! I hope the people without power still had heat!

I saw something even on our news, it has been bad. A sad occasion for some spectacular pictures, if the weather allows, but the idea of the book seems more charming...

glad it's finally over, the things that nature can do.
even a tree like this could fall off just like that.

If I knew, the world would end tomorrow, tonight I would plant an apple tree. (Martin Luther)

Hope you are save and sound. What a powerfull storm it must have been, to take away that old tree.

Yet, it's of hope for young and new ones to grow. A wonderful Monday for you.

Glad you are safe and the tree didn't hit you! Hope you are keeping warm there.

I was watching this on CNN. Winter storms can cause a lot of problems.

I forgot about the damages and chaos a major snow storm can create. I hope the power outage does not affect your home.

I am a freelance photographer and photojournalist who moved to Washington, D.C., in 2003 from Caracas, Venezuela. During my 15 years as a photographer, I have traveled the world collecting images for work and pleasure. I have taken photographs throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia, focusing on cityscapes and architecture as well as the simplicity of landscapes and people.

I studied architecture at the University of Tennessee and then returned to Venezuela to earn a B.A. degree in communications from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas.
I was a photographer and photo editor for publishing companies while doing freelance work for local and international media outlets.

I was born to a Venezuelan mother and a Belize-American father, some of my earliest memories are of hurrying through airport terminals with a camera around my neck. I was raised in Brazil and Venezuela, and I am fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
