About This Blog
Luis Gomez PhotosI am a freelance photographer and photojournalist who moved to Washington, D.C., in 2003 from Caracas, Venezuela. During my 15 years as a photographer, I have traveled the world collecting images for work and pleasure. I have taken photographs throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia, focusing on cityscapes and architecture as well as the simplicity of landscapes and people.
I studied architecture at the University of Tennessee and then returned to Venezuela to earn a B.A. degree in communications from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas.
I was a photographer and photo editor for publishing companies while doing freelance work for local and international media outlets.
I was born to a Venezuelan mother and a Belize-American father, some of my earliest memories are of hurrying through airport terminals with a camera around my neck. I was raised in Brazil and Venezuela, and I am fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.

Wonderful shot Luis with the monument rising up into the sky. The circle of flags around the bottom adds so much to the emotion of the image.
This is a good one. Good use of the lens.
This is one of your best photos!!!
I'd like to be there some day ...in one of my future life....
Basilis.
just love the drama in this foto.
best one Luis.
Amazing Photo Luis!
What sky!
Maravillosa foto con un cielo imponente, genial!!
Great photo Luis- I visited it many years ago too.
This is an awesome image, Luis. Bravo!
Great looking sky in this shot!
uau...impresionante..
gorgeus!
Nice. Very dramatic photo. You caught the sky at just the correct moment. I walked those steps many times and not once did I ever get tired or bored. Take the walk if you can (have not been there since 2001 so stairs may not be open) rather than the elevator.
I love the sky and how you used the clouds to frame the monument. Great shot, Luis!
Brilliant sky as a backdrop.
Great sky!
Increible imagen, el monumento resalta su belleza enmarcado en ese espectacular baile de nubes! Saludos.
Love the capture Luis. It really is so difficult to get a shot that coveys the scale and relevance of this landmark. You have done this beautifully.
The clouds make this photo really pop. I haven't seen a symmetrical shot of the Washington Monument look this good.
Wow, Fantastica!
Love this one, Luis. I've never actually seen the base around it and love the flags. (One of these days we'll have to come to Washington -- will have to look you and Matty up too.)
